I've just read this - it's brilliant! It's written rather like 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night.' But without the autism, just very simply.
A tale of the holocaust from the innocent eyes of the nine year old son of a German Commandant.
Very moving and chilling.
I've just read 'Murder Most Fab' and I loved it. Funny, entertaining, unputdownable and some great characters, especially his mother!
I enjoyed 'A Young Man's Passage' too, but it looks to me like he's got a great future as a novelist.
What a clever and beautiful man he is! Some folk have...
I read a bio-type book by George Melly in the early sixties. It had a big impact on me, I found it fascinating. Can't remember why now though.
Would that be the same one?
I'm just reading his first wife Wendy's book. I don't like her much - I'm probably just jealous - but I'm finding it very interesting. I shall read the other biography (Harry Thompson's) again when I've finished.

Yup, the film is great. But the book is much greater.
I lurve this series.:D
Anyone else? Love it or hate it - you must have seen it. Want to discuss?
Stewie is great, wonderful, handsome, brilliant, witty, clever and all the other flattering adjectives which I can't be bothered to type - not even for Stewie.
I didn't know it was a book either. We are a bit thick aren't we?
I loved the film, but most of all it's the name. I think about it every time I see a green tomato. Please tell us how you felt about the complete novel when you've finished.
Great album cover lenny, is it one of yours?;) :D
Sting (ex Police) was voted worst lyricist last week. I wouldn't know, as my ears fur over whenever he's on.
Of course Dumbledore was gay - he entered Godric's Hollow and Slyther(d)in.:D
I should pretend I thought that up, but I'll be honest and admit it came from Jonathan Ross's writers.
They've now made a film of this book. I watched it the other day and it's very good. I'm glad I persevered and read the book first, but it's not essential, the film stands up for the truth.
You can enjoy a cup of coffee - but you wouldn't call it fun, would you sparky?
Yes it's fun getting the better of someone chris. But doesn't that confirm we are a race of sociopaths? ( not necessarily violent ones!)
I'm under the impression 'fun' is as misused a word as 'love,' ie., 'fun...
