Not just the lonely. Also those who oractice writing and have greater ambitions for later in life. If they have a given setting they don't have to make that up, but can focus on making the plot work, same with characters - only introducing 2 original characters and borrowing the rest of the...
I grab and read whatever I feel like at the time. Hence I, too, have many books in the reading process at a given time. Though usually I'll be focusing more on one book than the others. These weeks it's Dostoyevsky' Brothers, which I started last summer, but never got very far into. I picked it...
Fanfics rule! :p
I can't see why some authors can have so much against fanfics. Do they want to forbid people discussing their books as well? Because that is basically what fanfiction is: Discussing how the story might continue and discussing how characters might react in a given situation -...
Oh I'm all for fanfic.
I have an account at fanfiction.net under the same name as I use here. Haven't written much, but I have many stories listed as my favs - they are usually the ones I'm currently following the progress of, and a precious few I really loved and have re-read some times...
I wouldn't know what to do if I couldn't read more than one book at once. There's all the stuff I read for University (studying English brings with it a buttload of Literature) some of which I'll finish quickly if I happen to like it or drag my way through if I don't.
For university I am...
Miss Shelf, I saw that one some time ago. I think it's been out there for quite some time by now :) Still amusing though.
Billy, about the three/free problem: Some people simply can't produce the 'th' sound. It is a physical impossibility for them. Just like others can't make a rolling 'r'...
Heh family will be in bed sleeping at midnight on Saturdays.
It's 15 to midnight now and here I am. I should probably be going to bed though. I've had a rotten week and I need to be able to sing tomorrow at 10... so blech...
I was greatly amused when I saw an article in a newspaper about schools - more specifically about the students in them. Now I don't recall the exact subject, but I do remember the reference to the results of a survey. They concluded that "...between 3 and 4 students on each school..." yada yada...
C.... cl....cluuuhhhhh? Club? Wassat? :p
I'm always home on Saturday midnights, well, almost always; when role-playing with the guys we sometimes keep going till 2 AM, but I never go clubbing. I have a strong aversion to clubs and clubbing and people...
Been there done that. I've thought I loved a person - turned out it was still the remains of the crush that started off our relationship. I don't as such mind being in a relationship with someone I don't love - as long as I like the person and care for them. My problem arises when there is great...
Surely you can have them order something for you? Otherwise do what the rest of us do when we can't get what we want locally: Turn to the internet - more specifically: Amazon and eBay can supply just about anything you might want.
That's because it's the US off-shore platforms and refineries that'll determine gas prices all over the world - not a few Cuban lives and homes.
Ahem bitterness aside:
Best of luck to all of those who will need it during the storm - be they from Cuba, Texas, Louisiana, or other locales...
Crimes such as theft, vandalism, that sort of thing. I can easily forgive and forget - and take that from someone who's had several things stolen once in a while. Take it also from someone who has shoplifted more than was smart. I never got caught - I *was* smart :p
Ahem yeah, it has long...
I'd have to agree with Stewart there. If it turns out you don't like it, it'd suck to have started a hugely long series that isn't even finished yet.
Personally I'll recommend the Aquasilva Trilogy by Anselm Audley, though if you're from the States it may be difficult to find those books...
I think I posted about this incident in the therapy thread - though I'm not sure.
One of my fellow English students kept talking about the 'descenders' in Britain, and I really had no clue what he meant. Not until he had finished his point and our professor started to answer did it occur to...
I heard about Rita on the news this morning.
Best of luck to all those in the affected areas - especially in the by Katrina affected areas - Rita will not make things easier :(
Yikes, if the kids venture into MY garden it's their parents' accident insurance that covers any damages they do to themselves and to my car. Since it's not my fault my garden was in their way - that's how we sort it in DK.
See as above, generally a swimming pool will be kept in a closed garden...
