So you suggest locking every criminal up, CDA? Including the minor ones who are just in for petty theft, which are probably the ones we're talking about here. Who's gonna pay the bill for housing and feeding them? You? Me? Or should we just reinstate capital punishment for petty theft? Makes...
Oh yeah there are mini skirts still - and I'm not objecting :p Have a few myself, though it's only on the few really warm days in summer I can actually wear them without freezing to death :( Denmark's weather sucks.
Three Men in a Boat is hilarious hehe. My mum got me to read it a long time ago when I was a mere child, I should probably read it again now that I a somewhat greater understanding of things :p
Quite the opposite - those who bark are seldom the ones to bite, and those who are prone to biting are usually those who go beyond the point of barking very quickly and turn to growling - that's when you ought to be careful.
I had a significant other till this summer. He didn't read a lot, well he read D&D books with the usual fervour of the D&D geek, but novels? Not a whole lot there, in the 1½ years we've been together I know only of him finishing 4 novels. Spending too much time in World of Warcraft can do that...
So there we were, talking about British History and this classmate of mine kept referring to the 'descenders'. I was puzzled, who the hell were they? I'd never heard of them before. A while into the conversation it slowly dawns on me who he's talking about.
The 'dissenters'.
ARGH! Why...
Aye, but you can't please everyone, and some people can get annoyed over something the majority would find inconsequential, but as someone else stated: all we need is a complaint from one person, who may or may not be oversensitive. So even acting like everyone else does won't necessarily keep...
It all sounds very sensible, Doug. But how could anyone possibly define "too intrusive" on a forum with a multitude of members such as TBF? Very few people put their boundaries in exactly the same place. Also: exactly when will people consider their time wasted? Very individual definition there...
True enough. I read something the other day about 'reaction-thresholds' in dogs. For instance an Irish terrier(my parents have one) has a very high reaction-threshold for barking, they hardly ever bark, which means it's futile to try and teach them to bark when they need to be let out to pee...
When you read an article, a book or some other text and immediately wonder how certain people (e.g. Stewart) would pick it apart. Yep, I've done that - on several occasions now :p
I totally agree, and I'll add that in return I don't expect to turn believers away from their path. Shan't keep me from explaining to them why I don't share their beliefs if they ask me why I'm aiming for hell.
The other day I was singing at a wedding (I sing in a church choir) and one of my...
Ah, always brings a smile to my face when previously reluctant readers have their appetites whetted by one book, it's so wonderful to strike gold, to find a book that just leaves you wanting more. I'm looking more and more intensely forward to reading these books myself :D
I'd say he could write songs - songs where the feet are actually the same in all the stanzas which is more than can be said for many a famed poet. Whether said songs are poetry, that's another discussion, but they're most definitely apt for putting to music.
As for the novels as a whole: I...
