Personally I thought there was a fairly predictable pattern to the game given the weather.
England have, on paper at least, one of the better squads at the World Cup, and if the matches were being played on freezing cold February nights, with the rain pouring down and the crowd ten yards away...
Perhaps it's time to pimp up Nabakov? Try putting a set of 24in spinning rims on the the Lolita thread and take her for a ride round the 'hood.

Germany 4 Costa Rica 2
Well, the German defence tried thier best to get inside the little clown car, but the Costa Ricans beat them to it, then did a couple of laps round the big top before the exhaust exploded and both doors fell off.
I think some commas might give me a clue what you're trying to record. Characters Sex or Sex changed into?
Anyway, I think you're keeping track of characters in a sci-fi or fantasy series, is that right? I sometimes have problems with large Russian novels, something like Life and Fate for...
I remember that one too, I think they ran it on 'Have I Got News For You'...
I've had a quick search on the interweb and I can't find a definition of this anywhere. Are you making your own words up again Peder?
Kenny "Still confused by 'toes'" Shovel
I must be missing the problem here. Any survey of this kind is going to be won by the popular and mainstream. You honestly think Rushdie would get more votes than someone who has sold 300 million books? Just discount the authors there by due of fan-base more than merit and you have the real...
I've read both Achebe novels now (No Longer at Ease 7/10, A Man of the People 8/10) and took notes whilst doing so. When I get time I'll review them.
Anyway, a trip to London included getting the following:
South of No North by Charles Bukowski
The File on H by Ismail Kadare
Envy by Yury...
I'd say Brazil, Argentina and Holland (not as strong a squad as usual but actually talking to each other for once) in that order are favourites. A group of 4 or 5 of the usual suspects have an outside chance.
England's progress depends on who they met in the knock out stages. I can't see them...
If you're still undecided about Kenzaburo Oe try some of his shorter books. I can recommend "Nip the Buds, Shoot the Kids" (a kind of Japanesse Lord of the Flies) and "A Personal Matter".

I've seen that clip on youtube. It seems to be a constant theme on Stewart's show, and from the clips he uses to illustrate it, perhaps fair comment.
From what I can tell the difference seems to be that O'Reilly goes after people whose opinion differs to his own, and as he has his own show he...
There used to be a counter-culture or alternative reading section in the big Borders on charring Cross Road in London (the one opposite Foyles). I was in there today and the section has gone. If I remember correctly it included people like:
Charles Bukowski
Fante (John and Dan)
Nelson Algren...
It's difficult to make an accurate judgement from another country, but from what I have seen of American news coverage (we get CNN, Fox, and Jon Stewart's Daily show over here, plus I've seen some coverage when on holiday over there) I'd say one of the things that separates him from other US TV...
Just returning the favour. I have 'Skipper Worse' by Alexander Kielland, 'Lasso round the moon' by Agnar Mykle and 'Naive. Super' by Erlend Loe all on my TBR list thanks to you.
