True. There's nothing worse than seeing a movie and finding out that every good scene was shown in the trailer. His definitely get you interested without giving away anything. I would second the MacGyver vote. His hair was pretty scary too.
sirmyk, I've been planning on renting...
You're right! That's a very important 80's television/vocab distinction you made there. Plus, MacGyver would have required a swiss army knife and some bubble gum if I'm not mistaken.
Jen, I would like to see that tractor :)
Ronny, as far as the fear of aliens goes, I imagine there were a few scenes that might have scarred you for life! That birthday party footage, the silhouette on the roof and the foot in the corn field
I haven't seen Unbreakable but enjoyed the others very much. The thing that made Signs so good was the fact that you were seeing it all through the eyes of the family. There was a feeling of dread that built slowly through the movie. No flashes to Pentagon war rooms or over-the-top special...
I have to admit, I've become more interested in Magician during the second half but I still haven't decided if I'll read the others.
Very nice shop, indeed :) It's a new discovery but I will definitely be visiting again.
Very kind of you to ask, Mr. Kay. It's growing on me quite a bit. To be honest, I had a little trouble getting into it at first but it's really grabbed my attention since then. I forget, what is your opinion of the book(s)? Have you read the whole trilogy?
I was very excited to see all...
Discovered a huge, wonderful used bookstore where I picked up:
The Fionavar Tapestry by Guy Gavriel Kay
Love In The Time Of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
The Remains Of The Day by Kazuo Ishiguro
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
Novella, one of the best concerts I've ever been to was also at Red Rocks. Counting Crows put on an awesome show, full of emotion, with lots of improv and interaction with the crowd. Several of their shows since have really sucked though.
Also saw U2 in a big show at Mile High Stadium...
I believe the problem might be in the spelling. His name is David Gemmell. Hope that helps.
As far as Jonathan Strange goes you'll have to let us know what you think. I absolutely loved that book. It's a very unique work and it seems like most people either love it or hate it. Sword...
Interesting. They said they weren't currently taking new users but looks like they no longer charge. Is it much different than the satellite maps version?
Also, supposedly there's a similar site called keyhole.com or something where you can zoom in even further – possibly looking in windows close. I don't know if it's actually true because you have to pay for it but if so, it's very disturbing.
It's funny you posted this. My coworkers and spent most of Friday fooling around with this. Check out Niagra Falls, the Grand Canyon or even the Las Vegas strip. Also, an aerial view of ground zero absolutely blew me away. I've never been there so seeing how big of an area it is really...
It is pretty confusing, as I've found while trying to decide where to start. I've also heard complaints that sometimes his attempts to tie so many books together can hurt otherwise excellent works.
Ainulindale, thanks for yet another thoughtful and detailed response. I think I'll pick up War Hound And The World's Pain and maybe Dream Thief's Daughter and try to find the City In The Autumn Stars some other time. Definitely sounds like an intriguing premise. Just searching around the...
