A very important skill! :)
That's a really good point. His work is being exposed to far more potential readers than it would be otherwise and if he gets enough of a following, he could eventually try more conventional methods with a built-in fan base already established.
Oops. After looking at his site again I think you're right. Like you said, he does seem to be targeting a certain audience and I actually think it could work pretty well. He's braver than I am to even attempt it.
Also, thanks for rewriting your reply! Hopefully you won't be too bleary...

Good to hear from you "live", ds. I think we've been working opposite shifts. :) That is quite a unique way of doing it! I really respect what he's doing there as far as trying to contribute in a small way to some of the "up and coming" countries. Maybe his logic is that the high income...
I agree. A lot of the reason that The Office was so funny was the subtle (or not so subtle) English humor throughout. Gervais and the others were very good at not overdoing it. They made it feel like a documentary. For a crash course in "what not to do" try the American bastardized...
I wasn't trying to be an ass (OK, maybe just a little :)) I guess I just don't see how your opinion should be considered "General Knowledge" automatically. People were just comparing two series that they like and I don't see how that necessarily merits a derisive post comparing us to a bunch...
Just a word of warning. If you don't like giant insects and that kind of thing you might want to avoid Armor by John Steakley. The whole first half of the book is basically a giant battle between giant insects and men in bioarmor. Not my cup of tea but it was still fairly entertaining.
I guess that makes sense. Better safe than damning your child to a lifetime affliction I guess. :) Reading Jenn's list of baby "advice" just reminded me of that one. It's hard to decipher the good advice from the bad in the endless barrage when you have children.
The whole time my wife was pregnant, my mother-in-law insisted that if she ate too much of something during the pregnancy(peanuts, milk, etc...) that that baby would be allergic to it after he was born.
I definitely know what you mean but think of what it would feel like to finish. Nothing left to read! It's too awful to even think about! I'll gladly take the alternative!
