Bejing English Major Seeks Technical Lit.

The last article on the list is on the web, because the publication is an academic journal. I have not looked at the site, so I don't know if he needs to pay a subscription fee. The article before that is from a magazine. That could be on the web too, but most of the others are books. I don't...

Bejing English Major Seeks Technical Lit.

Maybe it's just my suspicious mind but, what about the university library? I would understand if he wanted the books because of a personal interest but, if he is doing a course, the books would either be recommended books for the taught courses -in which case they have to be available- or needed...

I don't think it's a question of egos and people don't pick on new comers in general, only on those newbies who joined only to promote their books. If you read the link Stewart provided on self-promotion mistakes, you will understand why. Promoting your own book in a forum is fine; joining the...

A shield of the coolest air

A shield of the coolest air

Was it a fiction or a non-fiction book? I found the name of the poet, but when I tried to find books where he was quoted, there were all non-fiction.

So you think you can type?

Level 5, 40 points I learnt to type with one of those typing tutor programmes, but as I only used the free part of the programmes, I never learnt the top row , so I touch type until I get to a number or symbol and then look frantically for the right key.

    eLibrary Austria eBook Project

There are a few people who speak German here, but probably few whose German is good enough to contribute. I can remember two Austrian members, Harry Gamblor and Unicorn21. Why don't you pm or email them?

    Favorite Quotes

This is not my favourite quote, but one that has followed me around like a curse: 'From much reading and little sleeping, his brain dried up.' You cannot image how many people used it as a warning that a similar thing would happen to me.

    The pussification of America

I've seen the consequences of that when they leave school. They are a real pain at work. They still think you've got to praise them for doing their job - even when they don't do it properly -, and won't do anything that they consider boring.

    Yann Martel: Life of Pi

The reason for the length of Don Quijote is that it is not one book but two. The first book was such a success that someone else tried to cash in and write a second part. Cervantes then wrote a second book.
