    Nobel Prize in Literature: Laureates

The Noble prize committee may grant the prize for three reasons: -To reward a country, especially when there is no chance that anybody from that country will win in any of the other cathegories. -To reward or 'compensate' a minority group or political stance -To reward good writing (but only...

    Greetings and Godspeed

I have not said hello before because I wasn't sure you were going to stay or whether you wanted us to go away. That 'Godspeed' in the title of your thread made it sound like a farewell.:)

    Reading in a Foreign Language

My reasons are the same as Lies' and Rigana's. Another reason is that many authors/books are never translated or at least I don't know whether they will ever be translated. I only wish I could speak more languages.

Books you are afraid to post about.

Hi, a few weeks ago I read a book by Christopher Brookmyre. It must be one of the highest body counts, with people dying in the grossest possible ways. Wicked sense of humour too.

    Henri Charrière: Papillion

I think my favourite part was escaping from prison, but it was so long ago I can't remember much. There is a second part, Bank, where he joins a gang to do a bank job. You'd think after what he'd been through, he'd stayed away.

    Aim of life

Whatever you decide to do, don't take a decision now. Wait until you are feeling happy. When you are brokenharted, it is easy to take the wrong decision just because any change can make you feel better, but it could be something you'll regret in the long run. Wait until you are stronger.

    Aim of life

I wish I could help you on this. It is a personal decision about what do you want to do with your life. Nobody else can give you an answer. They can tell you what decision they took but you will have to take your own. It depends on what matters to you, what things are important and which ones...
