Wanting to Start Reading Horror Book

Besides King, Dean Koontz, and Robert McCammon are good people to start off with. Koontz puts out around 57 books a year so he has a lot to choose from but "Watchers" is a good one to start with. McCammon "Swan Song", "The Wolf's Hour", "Boy's Life", and "Stinger" are all pretty good.

    Max Brooks: World War Z

Yeah I'll watch it on Netflix just because it is a zombie movie but the only thing it has in common with the book is the title. I hate fast moving zombies.

Looking for a decent fantasy series.

Fire Keeper series by Jane Lindskold If you liked Hobb's you may like those too. The last book or two aren't great but then neither were Hobb's ;). The First Law series by Joe Abercrombie Another dark fantasy series The Red Wolf Conspiracy by Robert V. S. Redick I've only read the first two...

    Pandora

You can tell it to put a song on the shelf which just means they won't play it for a month. I listen to it all night at work and will sometimes sit and tell it to shelf everything I've heard before just to get new stuff. Once you take some time and set up your favorites it works pretty well...

    Surely you can't be serious...

It would be hard to pick between Airplane, Blazing Saddles, and Young Frankenstein. Oh and the Naked Gun series of coarse.

Requesting fantasy series and or single's to read

Since you liked the Farseer Trilogy read the rest of the books set in that world. LiveShip Traders (my favorites) The Tawny Man (picks up where Farseer left off) The Rain Wild Chronicles (weakest of the group but I still like them) They are all connected but separate Novels | Robin Hobb...

George R.R. Martin: A Game of Thrones

I'd give book 5 the lowest rating. It was 800 pages of nothing happening to progress the story along. Book 4 was ok while 1-3 are the best fantasy books I've ever read.

    Regular Kindle or Kindle Fire??

Don't know if they are still doing it but walmart had the kindle fire for $200 and came with a $50 gift card making the fire $150. I have a regular keyboard kindle and really like it. Have no use for a fire and hate touch screens.

Borrow books for your Kindle from your local library

They have a one month free trail for Prime. If you don't buy from amazon fairly often it really isn't worth it. The movies and books are a nice bonus but the movie selection is poor and you only get 1 book a month. The free 2 day shipping is the main reason to get it. I can usually find...

Borrow books for your Kindle from your local library

When the book becomes available you get an email. To get the book you checkout through overdrive which takes you to an amazon.com page where you can download the book to your kindle. You can choose how long of a checkout period you want 7 to 21 days but as long as you don't let your kindle...

    The Walking Dead

AMC cut the budget for the show which is one of the reason it is dragging out this season.

Suzanne Collins: The Hunger Games trilogy

Just read the first book and thought it was ok and will read the other two. This series is about the only thing available on Amazon's new kindle lending library that look interesting.

Your best books of this year.

The Heroes by Joe Ambercrombie The latest book in his First Law fantasy series. Out of all the crap I've read this year that is the only one I gave a 8 or higher out of 10 too. Lots of mediocre books this year.

Kindle, iPad, iPod Touch, or another?

Well you are in luck since Amazon just launched the Kindle Fire tablet. Doesn't have all the features of an Ipad but still does a hell of a lot and is way cheaper at $200. I'll be sticking with my regular Kindle since all I want to do is read books on it and e-ink is still the best for that...

New reader, help finding a book series I enjoy :)

The Stand and Robert McCammon's Swan Song are two of the best apocalyptic books. The Stand is a bit slower starting were Swan Song is crap blowing up right at the start.

    $114 Kindle

No reason too. The ads are just the screen saver and a very small banner at the bottom of the Home screen. While reading a book there are NO ads. Plus you get the the special offers some of which are nice. Already got a $20 gift certificate for $10 and $10 of free on demand movies.

    Wow, this forum is dead!

I bought a kindle a few months ago after they came out with the $114 version. It got cheap enough I could justify it. I've read several books with it since then and I'm pretty happy with it. Comes in real handy while reading in bed. The only real problem with it I have is still the cost of...
