Anyone else read these? I recently ran through them and LOVED them. They are billed as young adult, but certainly cerebral and thought-provoking for any age.
edited to add the titles: The Golden Compass, The Subtle KNife and The Amber Spyglass.

Right now I am using my son's favorite flashcard (a green truck) from the Baby Einstein series. That way we don't lose it, and I can pull it out to cheer him up in emergencies! :)
The Fiery Cross
I guess out of all Diana's books, The Fiery Cross took the most "concentration," but I did like it quuite a bit. I'm very invested in the series and characters though and can't wait for the next one.
Umberto
Oh, I tried to hard to like "The Island of the Day Before," but I just couldn't get there. I even picked it for book group, and it was a big disappointment for all.
Possession by A.S. Byatt is one of my favorite books, but the recent movie adaptation starring Gwyneth Paltrow never came to my area. Has anyone who read the book seen it, and if so, how did it compare?
TIA!
I'm a magazine junkie. I subscribe to: Vanity Fair, Time, The New Yorker, Real Simple, A Real Life, Bon Appetit, Coastal Living and my husband gets Architectual Digest and Conde Nast TRavel.
In the Name of Sorrow and Hope, by Noa Ben Artzi-Pelossof
Great non-fiction memoir by Yitzak Rabin's granddaughter. You may remember she delivered a eulogy at his funeral.
It's tough to pick just 5, but I'll try....
The Mists of Avalon, by Marion Zimmer Bradley
The Witching Hour, by Anne Rice
The Outlander Series, by Diana Gabaldon
All the Pretty Horses, by Cormac McCarthy
Possession, by A.S. Byatt
I went through an Irving phase and read quite a few of his books, but Garp was my least favorite. I think the imagery of the accident and other things just disturbed me. I loved A Prayer for Owen Meany -- that's my favorite.
It is a series of historical fiction mostly based in 1700's Scotland -- there are 5 books, I'm about to begin book 4.
(edited to add, the author is Diana Gabaldon.)
I'm currently reading "Voyager" by Diana Gabaldon, immediately after finishing the first two novels in the series, "Outlander," and "Dragonfly in Amber." I'm hooked.
I don't know this author, but I do love Marion Zimmer Bradley's Mists of Avalon, and it prompted me to look into a number of other Arthurian novels. I'll keep an eye for it, thanks!
Hello! I came across this website through a link on EZBoard. I am an avid reader and was looking for some links on the Outlander series. I haven't browsed around yet, but hope to have some great discussions here on books and other things. Looking forward to meeting you! :D
