Koonts the good and the bad
I started reading Koonts books about twenty years ago. He has a huge collection and the first fifteen or so were excellent but after that they seemed to suffer badly from… I don’t know what. Perhaps he just ran out of steam or got lazy. After taking a break for many...
Okay, I feel a great big Group hug coming on. Writing for me is about the stories I want to tell. Sometimes they are light and jovial sometimes they are dark and dangerous and sometimes they are just down right filthy (deftly stepping aside from the fact that sometimes they are just crap). I...
The Holy blood and the Holy Grail
I read the Da Vinci code shortly after it came out. I was interested in the subject at the time because I had written a book my self based loosely on the same theme. (Never got it published though). The codes in the book are all well planned out and described...
Not Bad
As a concept your idea has substance. It’s nicely written and well constructed. I would however suggest you look at how often you have used the word HOPE. I didn’t count exactly how many times you use, life is just too short, but it was noticeable a LOT. Other than that I liked it.
I agree (Mostly)
Hippopotamus is a very good book. As is his re-working of the “The Count of Monty Christo” called “The Stars tennis balls” (Crap Title but bloody good book) His Auto biography “Moab is my wash pot” is also very good. “Making history” is good but probably his weakest book. But...
Good for you
Wow an open mind; it’s nice to see. Let’s get one thing straight. I’m not a big “Fantasy head” or anything. I read across all genera‘s but if you ever wanted to try a fantasy book these two truly are right up there. Another all time favourite book of mine is Stephen Fry’s The Liar...
Hello
Nice to see someone new. I’m only new to the site myself but I’ve had a lot of good discussions with the other member already.
If you write at all you should check out the “Writers showcase,” forum on this site. If you do I’m sure to see you there,
Regards Hanman
Hi
Nice to see someone new. I’m only new to the site myself but I’ve had a lot of good discussions with the other member already.
I read Life of Pie a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it.

When I first saw the header for this piece my intention was to come and say something a bit witty about him dying. But of course if he actually is ill then it would have been in very bad taste, so I won’t. I will however say that I am not a fan of his books. He drags his stories out far too...
Blast from the past
Wow, you’ve just sparked a memory from way back. I have only ever read one Gor book. I think it was called “The marauders of Gor.” But it was back in the eighties. I seem to remember something about, if you drew a circle in the sand around something or someone you took...
The Pickelo
I think it has something to do with, “Shooting for the sky,” only less ambitious. Although I knew a priest once who had a hole, (sorry that should of course be whole) different take on the word Pickle.
Bad day at work
Yeah, you’re right, it is forced rhyming. It’s just a cathartic piece. I had a bad day at work yesterday and wrote and posted it in just a couple of minuets. To be perfectly honest Poetry is not really my thing. Sometimes I write it just to get my mind flowing or as avoidance...
Dear Mammy
I am no longer staying at Mrs Lampbottom’s. I know her house came recommended to you by someone but I can only assume that they meant another Mrs Lampbottom. My Mrs Lampbottom tuned out to be a very strange woman. The things she didn’t try to do to me the night of my arrival are not...
Who is that man
Ah yes. Of course Stephen King has many incarnations, (He’s a bit like Dr Who in that regard.) First we had the Weirdi Beardi look; a good look for a writer back in the days of Homer (Homer the Greek that is and not Homer the Simpson, just for the younger readers.) But of course...
Hysteria.
Hysteria, it raps my mind
Like clothing that’s in fashion
It curls around inside my mind
For this job I have no passion
It stalks me now through day and night
Leaves me ragged to the core
Tongue tied and twisted at its very sight
I want to struggle, scream or roar
Yet...
The Dude
Hey, maybe you've got it wrong. Perhaps Stephen was still like being really cool and stuff on the inside and was just about to say something a bit GNARLY about the book when he suddenly thought, "Hey, hold on there cool thoughts, JK's like an English Muffin, I can't just go like all...
Family Fiend
By Aaron Hanlon
I knew her mother well
Long before her time
Skin like milk, rose petal lips
I longed to make her mine.
Her inner thighs were soft and smooth
Her breasts so full and lush
I controlled her mind, her body too
Her will was mine to crush.
For centuries...
