Looking for the title of a historical novel

I read this back in the 1980s, but I think it's a much older book. I read it in Icelandic, but it was a translation, possibly from English, but French and even German are also possible. I think it may have been based on or inspired by a real murder case. In the beginning chapter, a wealthy...

In what order should I read these books?

1984 and Brave New World are both dystopic novels and while they deal with a similar theme (an individual takes on society) the execution is totally different. 1984 is a harrowing read, while Brave New World has its lighthearted moments. Life of Pi is a fantasy of sorts; Catch 22 has some...

Looks nice. You've got Swedish, Slovenian, Turkish and IPA symbols and a couple I don't recognise. I wouldn't want to try to figure out the pronunciation, though ;)

Thanks. I like some historical fiction, especially when it doesn't play too fast and loose with the facts. I also like history.

    1. If by surnames you mean family names, they are rare. We mostly use patronymics, and matronymics are becoming more common. 2. Couldn't say. Don't like to brag ;)

    Hamlet translation help

There is a retelling of the story in Charles and Mary Lamb's "Tales from Shakespeare". You can get it online from several sources. I would suggest getting an annotated version of the play.

    Greetings from Iceland

Hello everyone, another newbie here. I live in Iceland, am a translator by trade and love reading. I am a literary omnivore, although I like some genres better than others. I go through phases in my reading and right now I'm on a mystery and detective story spree, but in-between mysteries I...
