Have just been to a summer fete at my mother's church and came back with the following:
The Play Room - Olivia Manning
Two Days in Aragon - MJ Farrell (Molly Keane)
Tomorrow - Graham Swift
The People's Act of Love - James Meek
Gilead - Marilynne Robinson
The Emperor's Children - Claire...
Have just returned from a charity shoppig spree. Picked up 5 books in Barnardo's - Any Human Heart by William Boyd (have never read any of his, though this makes no. 4 in the tbr pile), The Waterfall by Margaret Drabble (again have never read and already have 2 more in the tbr pile), The Amateur...
I buy pretty much all my books in charity shops. I like to own what I've read so only use the library for a travel book if I'm going somewhere or reference books. They are great for kids books though, especially picture books for younger kids.
I have only read two - Portnoy's Complaint (very good but possibly more appealing to men) and The Plot Against America (loved it). I buy most of my books in charity shops and have a couple more Roth's on my TBR pile. After The Plot... am saving them for a special treat.
