I am currently on the first of Ann Parker's Silver Rush Mysteries - Silver Lies. Very enjoyable. Anyone intersted in historical mysteries might give it a go. The story takes place in the silver boom town of Leadeville Colorado during the, you guessed it, the silver rush.
I enjoyed it so...
I hope every was able to ride the storm out safely. Best wishes and prayers to you all. It looks like quite a mess on the east coast. BTW, The Red Cross website is open. Just a thought. :)
I've only just started it but I'm loving it. As usual, Penny delivers on creating a setting that is dripping with atmosphere. A murder has occurred in a monastery that is completely isolated. I'm streaming gregorian chanting in the background as I read. Awesome.:D
I just read that Orlando Bloom's character from LOTR will also be in Jackson's upcoming remake of the Hobbit. This bugs me and I'm wondering if I'm the only one.
It seems like if you are going to make a book into a movie you shouldn't go and stick in characters that weren't in the actual...
Okay so it's not the end of the world but I am so annoyed. After a three month hiatus from reading I am now able to return to my favorite hobby. (Woohoo! Puppy is all settled in.)
So I go onto my local library website and I find that my list of "to be requested" books has been wiped clean...
I'm pretty sure I have a disorder of some sort. I haven't been able to read for about two months. I will not be able to read for about another two to three months. All my books are packed away for safe keeping while our new puppy does the tasmanian devil/puppy chewing thing. Yet, I still end...
I'm revisiting Dorothy L Sayers currently. I recently picked up the box set of the BBC's / Dorothy L. Sayers mysteries on DVD. I believe these are the same as some may have seen on PBS's Mystery some time ago. They are done in the mini-series style so be prepared to give up three hours to...
I thought this might be fun and may help someone who is frantically trying to get ideas for last minute gifts.:whistling:
I purchased "An Irish Country Village" and "An Irish Country Christmas" written by Patrick Taylor to give to MIL who is 80. This are what I would call a cozy books. Very...
I was bookshopping and came across the Agatha Christie section and started browsing through. Now I would have sworn I have read every Agatha Christie printed but I came home with a nice stack of books that I just simply can't remember reading. I know some have been released under different...
I was just curious as to how this was effecting you all where ever you are. We have no cases here yet but folks are getting squirrely. I was at Costco yesterday and people looked like they were stocking up to go into their nuclear fallout shelters. I mean I was stocking up too but that's...
Along the lines of the "what books did you have to read in school" I wanted to explore the topic of what books were read to you when you were younger that may have sparked your love of literature. )
I have this really vivid memory of one of my elementary teachers (no I'm not kidding, it was...
I'm hoping to get some recommendations for some good, cozy reads.
By "cozy" I mean those books that have a peaceful sweetness about them and make you want to curl up with hot chocolate and that make the world seem like a less ugly place.
I've read the Mitford series by Jan Karon and I've...
I'm so excited to find this forum! Hi there, all. My name is Monique and I'm a 43 year old mom, wife and office manager in a property management company. I live on the island of Oahu.
I recently finished Wash This Blood From My Hand by Fred Vargas and thoroughly enjoyed it. I really...
