    Saddest/Most Depressing Novel You've Ever Read

    One of the most depressing books I know that I've ever read was My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Piccoult. Also Nineteen Minutes by the same author. Jodi Piccoult does depressing really well.

    Medieval adventure?

    Another good book is Timeline by Michael Crichton. It mostly set in the middle ages and has plenty of history in it, as well as action, romance, science, and time-travel.
