Hi Peder, Thanks so much for your reply; Yes, this will be my third attempt at reading SHIRLEY by CHARLOTTE BRONTE!! I'm finding it a little bit slow and tedious at the moment! Kindest Regards, fiedler

I've just started reading the SHERLOCK HOLMES Stories, by ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE, again!

    The Brontë Sisters

Well I preferred JANE EYRE to WUTHERING HEIGHTS; mainly because I found the latter to be a little too bleak, black, and cruel, for my liking!

    Emily Brontë: Wuthering Heights

Well WUTHERING HEIGHTS does have a lot of sadness in it, but it's also what I would describe as quite a "dark" story, as well.

Wilkie Collins: The Woman In White

Once again: THE WOMAN IN WHITE by WILKIE COLLINS is a brilliant book!

What are you listening to Right now?

Well at the moment, I'm listening to THE CARTER FAMILY: The Original Carter Family: One of America's earliest Folk and Country Music groups: excellent stuff! They started recording their music in 1929; It really is worth a listen!

    The Brontë Sisters

I can't seem to find the Bronte sisters mentioned, anywhere on this Forum, so I started this thread. I've read JANE EYRE, which was excellent, and soon I'll be reading her other 3 novels. I've also read WUTHERING HEIGHTS by her sister Emily. Has anyone else read Charlotte Bronte's books...

    John Le Carre

Hello, it's good to be here

I'm sorry, readsalot, but I don't know most of the authors you mentioned but I do believe the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys stories were very good. I'm a fan of Agatha Christie's stories, but I've only read a couple of her stories so far. You'll have to excuse my reading tastes as I'm probably a...

Hello, it's good to be here

Hello readsalot, Thanks so much for your comments. Yes, well I must say that WUTHERING HEIGHTS is quite a dark and even morbid story, and I certainly won't be reading it again in the near future. I actually thought that Emily Bronte's older sister Charlotte wrote a better story in JANE EYRE...
