    Who is the best short story writer?

    ''Cat in the Rain'' by Hemingway is beautiful. Also a fan of ''Babylon Revisited'' by F. Scott. Favorite author is definitely Lahiri. Not sure if you can find a better collection of stories than Interpreter.

    PBS's Downton Abbey

    David Mitchell (the comedian not the writer) calls Downton Abbey "souped-up soap" which I think is completely accurate. It's the trashiest period piece on television!

    Kazuo Ishiguro

    Remains of the Day is one of my favorite books I've ever read. I don't think I've read anything so delicately or finely written.
