The internet is a funny place. Take care.

    Evolution

I never intended to try to prove anyone else wrong. I actually was simply stating that there is a way to look at Genesis that can be logically broken down where it does align with science. And then CB said he very much doubted that I could do so...which I guess I incorrectly took as him asking...

    Evolution

Ok no problem. You have clearly made up your mind so I'll just let it go. As for the other person who asked about trying to reconcile religion with science....well, in my mind they must be reconciled. If my religion conflicts with science then it brings into question the entire honestly of...

    Evolution

Yes, I understand your straightforward reading. It's the most common view for sure. I was trying to explain mine by starting at the beginning and seeing if you could understand my viewpoint by stepping through it slowly. I don't think you are interested in hearing it though so I'll bow out. I...

    Evolution

Ok let's take just the first couple verses to start with: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Does it say that he simply created the earth? No. It says he created the heavens and the earth. In the beginning. On the first day. "Now the earth was formless and empty...

    Evolution

I think simply it was because that was how many logical pieces it fell into when you broke it down. Are you thinking there is more significance to the number?

    Evolution

I don't think that's true. The writer, in my mind, is saying: During the first period of time, I did this.... During the second period of time, I did this.... , etc. And then when all was said and done, I rested. What is illogical about that?

    Evolution

Why is that a problem? It could been described in 3 or 10 or 100. I think it's just a way of saying that it was done in logical phases. I'm not trying to convince anyone that this is the correct interpretation. All I'm really trying to convey is that it's not irrational to believe in both...

    Evolution

Well there are clearly times when you can use context to determine the original intent of a word. So in the day of atonement, there is enough context to be certain that it meant a literal 24-hour day. As apposed to the Genesis account of creation which has no such context. In fact, the...

What are you referring to regarding the number six?

    Evolution

Another thing people think that the Genesis account says that the earth was created before the rest of the universe is because it talks about God making "day and night" before making the sun. This confused me for a long time as well. It also seems to say that the sun was created after the...

    Fantasy series?

How important is the romance aspect of your search? Can it just be a minor element of the story or do you need it to be more pervasive like Twilight stuff?

    Hi hi hi

Welcome aboard. Post a lot....we need more people who post a lot! :)

    Evolution

Well first off, the Bible account of creation does not, as many assert, say that the earth was created first. Also, I don't believe that the account of 7 days are ever said or meant to literally be 7 24-hour days. The word for "day" when translated can be translated a variety of ways including...

    Evolution

Well as a Christian, I actually do believe in the science of evolution. I think the evidence is indisputable. From the fossil record to the evidence in DNA that has been unearthed. The head of the human genome mapping project was and is a Christian. But wrote a very convincing book about how...

    Evolution

What I mean is that a casual read of the account of creation tends to make it appear that there are contradictions between what is written versus the generally accepted scientific explanation. But a careful read will turn-up a very close correlation between the Genesis account and what...

    Mind reading?

Good point. But can you imagine how hard it would be to resist the urge to use that power?

    Mind reading?

And I agree with this...I certainly wouldn't want people to know some of the crazy things that go through my mind! ha ha But it would be fun to be on the other side of that!

    Mind reading?

I agree about having to be able to be selective about it to be good. Otherwise there would be too much noise to filter out. But wouldn't it be soooo cool to be able to know what people really think of you without them knowing? On the other hand, it might be depressing....
