    John Kennedy Toole: A Confederacy Of Dunces

    I think one thing that worked about the novel is that it could have been set anywhere. New Orleans was just the background. Of course it's a very colorful background.

    Richard Adams: Watership Down

    I agree with Ell - the book is excellent and much better than the film. I remember reading the book at primary school and bawling my eyes out at the end, I was so upset. Definitely read the book: it's very good.
