    Aaah! Lost bookmark!

Nooooo, it's too awful! One of the books I am currently reading is Le Comte de Monte Cristo (2), and I had a lovely art deco-ey bookmark keeping my place whilst I continued my PG Wodehouse and Harry Potter perusals ... and then I noticed it had happened - - my bookmark is missing and...

How we first came to books

As a kid we always had books in the house and I remember my parents reading to me at bedtime. My fave kids books were (at the time): The Cat In The Hat, The Wind In The Willows, Mr Bump (the first book that was bought just for me!), and The Hobbit.

    Desert Island books

Surely you wouldn't need 10 books, though a couple of audio books might be handy ;)

    Desert Island books

I've just thought of another book I can't stand to have instead of the Ben Elton one - 'Elise ou la vraie vie' Claire Etcherelli. I had to read this crappy book as part of my A level French and hated every bit of it. If I was stuck with that book on my island I would certainly find a way to...

No porn doesn't count! Which doesn't mean you can have as much of it as you want, you mucktub!

people that can't read in cars>>>WIMPS?

Reading in cars makes me want to be sick, it's not a good idea :(

    Desert Island books

My 10 books would be: 1) Alexandre Dumas 'Le Comte de Monté Cristo' II, because I haven't finished reading it yet! And it's a biggie ;) 2) Harry Potter book 5. Though I wouldn't mind book 6 instead when it comes out! 3) The complete Sherlock Holmes. I have read and reread these...

Mark Haddon: The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Nighttime

I would love to read a sequel to this book, it was just superb. I had to ration myself so I wouldn't finish it too quickly.

    Desert Island books

I was wondering what 10 books you would take to a desert island (ie your must haves ... and no, it's not an ice floe!)? I shall post my selection later. :)

What do you use as a bookmark?

I tend to use paper bookmarks or postcards, but I have been known to use *ahem* the odd chocolate frog card :o

i want to speed my reading

It depends how long the book is, the style of the writing, and whether I want to ration myself and not finish it too quickly :p

    Harry Potter VI

I doubt Harry, Ron or Hermione will die. I don't see what it would acheive for the story. And I'm not convinced about Tonks. I suppose it all depends on what happens in book 6
  14. Marge

    Harry Potter VI

Why do people think Tonks is a traitor? (yes, I've had a look on mugglenet :o )
  15. Marge

Suggest just one book to read.

What Ho! The Best Of PG Wodehouse :)
  16. Marge

    Harry Potter VI

I had a feeling we would have a long wait for the next book  And I understand the need to kill off characters too - but not Hagrid! :o
  17. Marge

    Do you read non-fiction?

I read a lot of gardening books and have had a gander at the new Trinny & Susannah book too.
  18. Marge

    Stephen Fry

I suppose it's to do with style. After all I doubt very much people always said 'blasted rotter' and stuff like that years ago.
  19. Marge

What 's your favourite book character?

    Snape from Harry Potter :o
  20. Marge

How much books do you read per year?

How many books do I read? Enough to keep amazon in business!
