Starting Excalibur right now, looking forward to it. I've never read anything by this author that has disappointed me, so 771 pages to go!!!!

Just sacked Goldings - The Inheritors ! There's a reason why 'Lord of the Flies' is the only book by him that is well known. The Inheritors is dreadfully dull and I could not stick with it.

    The Lost Fleet Series

Just finished Campbells - Dauntless. His grammar is woeful and the book shifts from the first to the third person narrative inside a paragraph. Not only that but two conversations are conducted on the same line!! Very very poorly written, he is lucky to have made it in print, verdict - avoid.

I enjoyed the book Gone Girl very much. I was determined to read it before trying the film, especially as Aflick does not convince me usually. I did the same thing with Hunger Games and found the lead actress too heavy and too plain. The book is first class. I have also read Divergence, but not...

    47 Ronin

If you mean because of his wooden acting, then I agree, however it was well observed in 47 Ronin was it not? What films are on your list, that are not on mine? Does anyone else want to list their favourite films?

Lord of the Rings seems to have delighted quite a few. Or you could try Moorcock - The Eternal Champion.

Have you picked up on the black humour?

    47 Ronin

I am in my sixties and have seen thousands of movies. The 'message' behind 47 Ronin was the reason for my enthusiasm. Some others are; Singin' in the Rain; 1492: Conquest of Paradise; Braveheart; Fight Club; The Bridge on the River Kwai; Blade Runner; Book of Eli; Silence of the Lambs; True...

who here has read the walking dead comics?

I will seek out the novel and let you know if I have any success. I will follow you too. The site has a lot of members who only read infrequently, but I read all the time and will always answer interesting threads. I would be happy to compare the novels to the TV series once I've read the first one.

I love Time Travel novels and Heinlein finds two; rather than one way to acheive it, heartily recommended.
