Book Discussion - The Forever War

I really enjoyed it, I also enjoyed the sequel, Forever Peace (?) - there was also a companion novel Forever Free (or have I got those two the wrong way round). And if anyone missed it there is a filler short story in one of the sci-fi complilations... I can look it up if anyone wants to know.

    Isaac Asimov's Foundation Series

I've always loved Asimov stuff, but this is the one set of his books I could never get "in" to. Mind you - it was a while back (when the great man was alive and visiting the same bookshop as me in Bermuda - never chanced to meet him though :( )... Maybe I should give them another go now.

    Reading in October

I've just rediscovered "The Game Players of Zan" by MA Foster. Brilliant. Now reading Philip Pullmans "Dark Materials" trilogy... bit of a wild ride!

    Favourite Standalone Fantasy

I must get a copy of that - love the film..... How about "Beauty" by Sheri S Tepper - great fun and well written. PS Forgotten Beasts of Eld was a cracker too... have re-read it many times... :)

One of my all time favorites is "More Than Human" by Theodore Sturgeon - anyone else read it?

    Vote for October Book Discussion

Was Flowers for Algernon the one that was made into the film Lawnmower man? Or am I wide of the mark? Consider Phlebas was good - not read the rest..... any synopses?

    Science Fiction and Fantasy

Curiously enough, I don't know many people who don't read SCI-FI, but alot of people do seem to look down a bit on the fantasy side. On the whole I prefer Sci-Fi but have read a lot of fantasy I enjoyed too.... Nice place you have here :)
