    Dystopias

Aah! I just remembered that too (having heard of it; I only know the movie 'Blade Runner' so far) and now it's one of the next books on my mount to be read. The title is marvellous, isn't it? I'm really looking forward to reading this one. I must admit I feel really challenged by all your...

    Your stake in the ground?

 No way! I am actually rather a stickler about my books and their look. Maybe sticky note is the wrong word? They are pretty small post-it stripes, one half (sticking to the page) transparent, the other half in different colours. Very handy for muddle-heads like me. :D

    Your stake in the ground?

Partly transparent sticky notes. I love bookmarks, but they always fall out or I leave them lying around. :o

    Recently Purchased/Borrowed

That's a great book. And when you have read it, watch "Apocalypse Now" (again), by all means.

    Dystopias

Wow, you are amazing. I actually know some of the suggested books but just didn't think of them in the context, like "Animal Farm". Some I've heard of but never read, like "Utopia", but of most I don't even know the authors' names. I will check them up and think there's a mighty long reading...

    Dystopias

Thank you, I have just found and ordered it, together with "Snow Chase", another novel of his. The not finding was due to my spelling mistake of the author's first name :o .

    Dystopias

Well, I looked it up at wikipedia and it really sounds good. Unfortunately it seems to be out of print? I couldn't find any copies at amazon or other online bookstores but I'll keep on looking for it.

Do you judge a book by its cover?

Oh no  Same here. I prefer the darker one which I thought was the second. :o

    Hi all!

    Welcome, float on! :)

Do you judge a book by its cover?

So do I (prefer the second one). :) Although the choice might depend on the contents of your book. A crime story? Rather gloomy?

A Happy New Year to all of you, lots of peace and happiness, and may you always have a good book. ;)

Getting the Most Out of Reading

I agree to Ell that that the best way to become a true reader is having fun reading. And the best way for this is talking to other addicted readers about the books you have read. That's much better than long and tedious journals because you get a feedback and new viewpoints. I make vocabulary...

    Nice to be here :o)

Oh, thank you. What a pity I must admit that I am not that creative at all. The name has been taken from a children's book ("Inkheart" by Cornelia Funke) which I liked very much and can recommend to older readers as well. Actually, it is a must read for all book lovers. :)

    Nice to be here :o)

In addition to my children and my job, reading and talking about books is my great passion. I love getting new suggestions and hearing what other people think about the books I've read. I think this might be one of the right places for that. ;) Another community which I joined eight months ago...
