J.K. Rowling: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

I just re-read Order of the Phoenix in anticipation of Half-Blood, and I have to say that it was much more enjoyable the second time through. My favorite is still Goblet of Fire, though, in terms of holding my attention. Order tends to drag on a bit with filler.

    Glen Duncan: I, Lucifer

Well, I guess this work may have literary validity to some extent, but it did offend me and I don't care for it. Different tastes for different palates, I guess.

    Glen Duncan: I, Lucifer

Yeah, I agree that Lucifer shouldn't be portrayed as a "nice bloke." But C.S. Lewis managed to portray Screwtape in a bad light without resorting to blasphemy and explicit sex. I guess I'm not objecting as much to the idea that Lucifer would be a bad guy as I am the author's use of explicit...

    Glen Duncan: I, Lucifer

What's the WORST book you ever read?

Gerald's Game by Stephen King. And in the creampuff fantasy genre, Vale of the Vole by Piers Anthony. Every syllable in that one substituted its correct pronunciation with a "v" sound, and Anthony had to type each "v" in instead of just giving us the general idea that his vole had a lisp...

Hello (what an original thread title!)

Thanks for the welcomes! I just went out and bought "I, Lucifer" so I can read and discuss it in the upcoming forum. It looks like it is a funny, witty read. :)

Hello (what an original thread title!)

Hi, I'm new here. I thought I'd check in and let people know I exist before I start posting in earnest. I love books, always have, and have dreams of being a writer of science fiction and fantasy. My name is Bill and I'm a 38-year-old single, never-married bachelor. I adore a good fantasy...
