    Literary Agents

I don't know. I wouldn't go for the 350 up front. That kind of reduces the agent's motivation--he's already gotten paid.

    Fantasy Battles

Feist is good. I think Sarah Douglass did a good job with some of the battles.

    Family Guy!

I think the two are compared since they have a few of the same people involved. I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain some of the voices from The Simpsons work for Family Guy too. I'm definitely not certain. Probably the main reason they are compared is that they are both situational comedy...

    Cheap Books

Check out abebooks. It's a great site with a bunch of used bookstores and their inventories online. It's where I go to find something I can't find anywhere else.

Would you EVER start a fantasy series in the middle?

I do pretty much the same as Kookamoor. Sometimes after waiting a very long time for the next book in a series I have to start the whole series over before I can read the new book.

Would you EVER start a fantasy series in the middle?

I would never intentionally read from the middle of a series. When I was much younger and just getting into reading a lot of spec. fiction I accidentally started a series from the middle. I wasn't completely lost but I remember after I realized it was book two and then read the first book a good...

    T. Coraghessan Boyle: The Tortilla Curtain

I've had two classes in which the short story "Greasy Lake" was used. That was the only exposure I had to Boyle before a friend suggested I read The Tortilla Curtain. I was loathe to read it at first since it reminded me of a particular class taught by a not-so-great-and-entirely-boring...

    sneakers dangling from powerlines

Maybe tossing your sneakers onto the lines is how you signal the drug dealers that you want some smack.

    sneakers dangling from powerlines

That's most likely exactly what it is. And in the case of there being more than one pair—well, the other kids wanted to be cool too.

    Paradoxa Emblemata

clueless is right I'm afraid. I was still a very good read. Welcome! (Do I even have the right to welcome? I mean, I've only been here a day myself.)

    my want-to-be-poem!

I, too, was expecting to hear some more about the "paradise" mentioned at the beginning. Have you thought about adding a second stanza describing the paradise? It would seem all the more a paradise when in contrast to the first stanza.

    sneakers dangling from powerlines

When I was growing up a neighbor kid was angry at his little brother and threw the younger brother's shoes into the powerlines like that.

Any new fantasy series out thats good?

That's a good point. I re-read that series once a year it seems.
