The first books in the series aren't like that. They're very heavy on the action. There isn't even any sex at all in them until.... oh I think it was about 3/4 of the way through book 6. You might try some of the earlier books... they're very addictive. Her last two, Cerulean Sins and Incubus...
I posted under the other topic but I don't know if any of those are ones you'll be interested in. Try the book recommendations forum at Kelly Armstrong's site. They have pages of individual author topics and discussions.
Oh, Kresley Cole has a new series coming out about vampire-slaying...
I just read a really great one by Jenna Maclaine called The Wages of Sin. Also look for the Dark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon, the Rachel Morgan series by Kim Harrison, the Women of the Otherwold series by Kelly Armstrong, the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris, the Undead series...
You know, I don't remember and my Dad doesn't remember and we can't seem to find the darned book! But I read him your description and he agrees that it sounds like Last of the Breed. Pop into a bookstore and leaf through it and see. My Dad says he thought they also made a movie of it.
Oh I think it may be Louis L'Amour's Last of the Breed. I lost a bet with my Dad and had to read this one. Here's the description:
Once again demonstrating his versatility, the prolific L'Amour has written a contemporary adventure novel set in the "Wild East" of Siberia. U.S. Air Force Major...
I don't know if it's still available, it's an older book, but Destiny's Daughter by Rebecca Brandywine. She's a romance author but this one wasn't really a romance. Had to do with secret societies and arcane code etc. and the Knights Templar treasure and Rosslyn Chapel if I remember correctly...
My sister loved the Redwall series. Personally I would read any series in the order it was written but I'm anal like that. Also, with any series I'd buy the first book and read it before you buy a bunch in the series. That being said, I only got about 20 pages into Redwall and put it down. I...
Oh yes! All of them... many, many times. I like her books in the beginning of the series, not so much the last couple books. Funny how in the beginning I was complaining because it was all action and no sex and now I'm complaining because it's all sex and no action! LOL! I'm hoping she'll find...
Well, I haven't read as much as I used to recently because I quit smoking (yay me!) and found that my cigarette time was when I used to read. Argh. So that's been hard. But from what I have read recently from new authors:
I would definitely highly recommend Jenna Maclaine (historical...
Oh I loved that book!! You had to hang in there with it in places because it was so repetative but it was sooo very interesting to see the same situation written from his perspective and hers. That was just great writing... makes you really wonder what the heck goes on in the other sex's heads...
The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon in mass market paperback: 1443 pages. It's the 5th book in her Outlander series and the rest of them are nearly as long. I love them though!
The Wages of Sin by Jenna Maclaine. It's self-published (but don't let that scare you off) so it'll never get widely known, but it's really a great book if you like paranormal romance/vampire fiction. It was way better than 2 out of the last 3 books I've read by authors of traditional publishing...
