McEwan
Why is McEwan always on the booker longlist? Sure, he's usually a good writer, but all his books are not that good (Amsterdam for one).
However, it was a surprise to see all these new names on the list this year. Unfortunately I haven't read any as yet.
Oh just about anywhere
For me it depends so much of what kind of book it is. A book in swedish I get at the local bookstore. The ones in english I will basically get from the cheapest place. But the books in Italian I usually borrow from the library since they're so hard to come by at a decent...
I see that others already have recommended Steinbeck and Marquez (they are great), but nobody has yet mentioned Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte! It's definately one of my favorites when it comes to classics! :)
2003: Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides (loved it!) :D
1988: Beloved by Toni Morrison (liked it)
1984: Ironweed by William Kennedy (liked it)
1981: A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole (liked it)
Hm, tough one. I think that these are the next 5:
On Beauty by Zadie Smith
Weight by Jeanette Winterson
Lost in a Good Book by Jasper Fforde
The Prestige by Christopher Priest
The Merlin Conspiracy by Diana Wynne Jones
Hopefully anyway... :p
Agreeing with Ronny
It's been a while since I read the book so I can't really remember any details, but it was a really great read and it seems like a book with lots of topics to discuss, if I only could remember them...
I don't remember the name Chapter Eleven either... :o
I used to keep all my books, but since there is only so much space in my flat I've started to chuck out books that I didn't like. Friends and family were of course happy, at least until their space started to diminish rapidly...
So now I've joined bookcrossing! It is a fun way of...
Howl's Moving Castle is a great read! I haven't seen the film yet but it looks promising!:D
Apart from that one I have only read Charmed Life of the Chrestomanci series and I liked that one as well. There are three more of her books in my TBR-heap, so I really recommend her!:p
