You might miss out on some gems, but that's your choice then isn't it? I've read wonderful little books with heartfeld poetry this way, thanks to self-publishing.
Be careful not to tar everyone with the same brush my friend
I understand your sentiment John, I'm not saying this or that is better and I'm definitely not saying editors aren't looking for new talent, they are.
My sentiment is about the evolving nature - because of better and cheaper digital printing - of new, better?, different ways of publishing and...
Wrong again Stewart. Has nothing to do with my debut novel being self-published, like so many others nowadays, because things ARE changing. I can't help that you don't like those changes and want to keep everything as it always has been.
Read the two books I recommended: "The Long Tail" and...
How many do you need?
Bloggers going public because they already know they have readers.
Lenses on publishing (take your pick from the 913 featured)
Also, have a look at this specific Lens, all info you’re looking for I think – even filled with links to blogs, newsletters and other...
No, that's not what I mean and you know that. Like I said - and I'm definitely not the only one, more and more writers, businesses and readers see and know it as well - you can't stop progress.

It's been a while, but I did promise.
Stewart, I recommend you read "The Long Tail" by Chris Anderson for starters, then follow various blogs (this one...
Mostly I write short articles (for two of our blogs: one on wooden flooring and one on business matters). Just published debut business novel (July this year), which was bringing a youth dream to reality. My first language is Dutch, but novels and articles are in English (when living and working...
Sorry Stewart but I do not agree with you I'm afraid. Self-publishing is not vanity, there could be very good and practical reasons to publish your book without needing to wait forever till some company decides it is 'profitable' enough for them to take it on. Is that the only valid reason you...
Not sure if this is any help to you ('publisher' is based in the UK, but I'm sure there are same kind of companies in Canada?).
I used: Antony Rowe - CPI to self-publish, initial costs not more than £ 250.00 and can order POD (print on demand, same costs per book if you order 1 or if you order...
Thanks. Took me a while to 'get' what you meant (must be my English)
and the mysterious accountant will become a very regular 'character' in the rest of the story :)
