I'm reading The Autobiography of Malcolm X. It's a great read, but I would like to read some more to get a better understanding of this man.
Could someone recommend me an un-biased book about Malcolm X, if such a thing is possible?
I broke up with my boyfriend of many years who didn't read and I'm now dating a lecturer who does!!!! *She is happy*
We talk about books and movies and it is fantastic!
So I can certainly understand why someone would want to break up with a non-reader...
1) One Book that made you read it More Than Once: Roots
2) One book you would want on a desert island: Les Miserables
3) One book that made you laugh: The Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy
4) One book that made you cry: The Thorn Birds
5) One book that made you wish you had...
These days, I mostly read on the bus before, and after work. I also quite like to read while walking... I know I shouldn't, but I've been doing it for years, especially when I'm engrossed in a book.
:p
It really depends on what I'm reading. I finished The Color Purple yesterday and will start The Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy today.
But oftentimes I wait a while longer to start another book. I also don't really have a very set reading pattern. I'm ashamed to admit, I can go without...
I have a Norwegian friend who told me about Kristin Lavransdatter years ago. Wish me luck in finding it here in Cape Town! Perhaps one of you guys can ship me an English version? I'll gladly pay top dollar (well, top Rand, actually. ;) ) for it.
I'm thinking perhaps I'll read Hendrik Ibsen...
I'm an athiest and dislike how we're portrayed in popular media. And when one does read about an athiest in a book, they're often the villain, not the hero.
Yes, I was referring to protagonist and not athiest. :)
i've already read the outsider and liked it. I think reading that book and...
Hey, I wasn't trying to offend anyone here.. Let's just blame it on my ignorance, shall we?
I was merely trying to get to know of other writers who aren't very well known in English speaking countries. That's why I singled out the UK/USA.
Anne of Green Gables rocks! I didn't even know the author's Canadian.. Or perhaps I forgot. :(
i have 2 Atwood's on my TBR list. I've already read one of her books.
Phew! I managed to spell that word from memory.. I'm so clever. :)
anyway. I'm trying to see if there are any books out there that has athiests as protagonists. And they are still moral people throughout.
Thank you!
I feel ya, sister. I also write on my phone! What type of phone do you have? Mine's an N70 and I hate it. Sometimes, just by pressing one wrong button, I lose my internet connection.. Minor Rant. :)
kewl. I'll read book 6. You helped me make up my mind. Thank you. Oh, just by the by, how...
Are there any people here NOT from the UK/USA? I'd love to hear about your writers. Do you have any prolific writers and do you read them?
South Africa has many, many writers and I try to read them all but it's difficult to keep up sometimes. New writers pop up every two weeks or so. :)...
