Angel In Heaven {Poem}

This is something I wrote for a friend who passed away a few years ago of Cancer.

Angel In Heaven

Now that you are gone
And so many things are left unsaid
Tears fall each night, as I lay awake waiting for dawn
I pray that you rest in peace in you final bed

I know you’ve gone to a better place
I wish we could have had the time to grow old together, I really wish we had
But I know you’ve been excepted into Gods good grace
Even though I know all this, without my friend, I’m still so sad

Now you’re an Angel in Heaven and you’ve got your wings
And though your life was cut short, you lived it happy and proud
To the thought of you not being here, my heart stings
But when I need to see you I look up and I know your looking down from your cloud

It was sudden, but on you Gods light had shown
And in a flash our time together was gone
With your memory in my heart, I know I’ll never be alone
With me my friend your spirit will always live on

Every time the wind blows on a still day
And a gently breeze touches my face
In my place I will stop and stay
Looking to the sky, I’ll know that’s you showing me your grace

“May you rest in peace and may you be happy.
This is not goodbye, it’s just until we meet again.”
“ I miss you and I will always love you my friend.”

I'm so sorry for your loss Damien, it is so hard losing some one and although the cliché that time heals does hold true, in some ways the sense of loss never fades.

Your poem expresses the sadness and the hope very well.
