Any newer Fantasy series out thats any good?
Ive read or started most of the series thats out at the moment?
My two favorites where the Wheel of Time and Sword of Truth but they just got too long and tedious to read. Seemed like the first two or three books in these series where realy good and then got less and less interesting.
So now im looking for a new series thats maby no more than tow or three books in or a newer author.

i have read thousands of fantasy books BUT i have never read any of these are they first person? i hate first person.

Since they are all mostly written by different authors it's hardly very likely they are all written in first person

first person blows. authors dont understand how to use it and screw it up. i have read very few first person books that were any good. it seems so simple but in reality it is the hardest perspective to write from. imho.

Hmmm, I'd say that Robin Hobb succeeded admirably with her use of first person perspective in The Assassins Apprentice (and the books that follow)!

Try my book! :)

Hey, new author... well it doesn't get much newer than this past January. I've just had a book published, it's the first of a trilogy and the second book will be coming out next January, etc. It's fantasy fiction, not in first person, and those who have read it have liked it.

The book is called The Dragon's Eye by Jenelle Schmidt and it's available at < **advert link removed** > where you can read the prologue for free and see if it's something you'd be interested in. Check it out and let me know what you think!

I am right in the middle of George R R Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire. So far it is remarkably well written. The characters are strong...I mean you really hate them or you really like them. Its worth the read time.

That's terrific, Jenelle!!! I saw it on Amazon. I'll try to flag down a copy. Promise you'll stick around the forum and chat with us from time to time.

Which authors influence you? Who are your favorites? What made you decide to write Fantasy? C'mon...spill the beans!!!

Check out www.georgerrmartin.com for updates as to how he's getting on. Do no go to amazon.com - they sooo often get release dates completely wrong.
