Project Gutenberg: https://www.gutenberg.org/ contains some 50,000 free ebooks in the public domain.

They may not have what you're looking for since it only deals with copyright-free books, but it does have plenty.

Google and Amazon both allow you to read a few pages of a book before purchasing it.

I would suggest doing that until you find one that you can't resist buying so you can keep reading.
