Does anyone know this book and author?
Story: Involves too acquaintances who live sort of off the grid. They take money from a wealthy man to find and retrieve his daughter from a remote commune in Alaska (or maybe Canada). They pretty much travel in on foot and this journey takes up a good part of the story. When they arrive they are taken in, with suspicion, by the commune. The commune is a cult of some sort and they consume some sort of poisonous berries or something to halucinate and so on and so forth.
It has a very "Heart of Darkness" feel to it.
Anybody know this one? I want to re-read it.
