Billy Collins

I love to write poetry, but when it comes to reading poetry, I tend to get lazy. So naturally, there are very few poets who really catch my attention. One of those poets is Billy Collins.
Is anyone else here in love with his work? I'm very curious about this, as I haven't heard his name a whole lot. Most popular poets are... well, dead. :p

I can't think of a whole lot of live poets I like either, or can't think of a lot of live poets at all. But Billy Collins is one of them.

I think he is great. So readable, the subjects so ordinary, but he makes them interesting. Trains, barking dogs, looking out windows. Really good stuff.

I had read a couple of his books of collections of other peoples' poetry, but found them quite ordinary. Very disappointing. I was expecting poems of similar quality.

I have a copy of Good Poems, a collection of various poems edited by Garrison Kiellor. That might appeal if you like Billy Collins.
