Earth makes first contact with a species in the Alpha Centauri system. Problem is that one of the two astronauts might be insane from "relativistic psychosis". Meanwhile, the gentle, primitive Aplhans have a dark secret and a hidden past. A dark secret and a hidden past that never get fully explained. Dammit!
I wanted to like this book. After all, The Killing Star was amazing. What I ended up getting was an alternate version of the same story with a different ending.
