I used to work at the library, a long time ago, and there was a children's book that I read that I just loved. It's the story of how the Siamese cat became the way they are today. It's about a family from Thailand (I believe) and their cat. One day, the young boy wanders off and the cat takes it upon himself to find the boy. The cat becomes cross-eyed from looking for the boy, raspy-sounding from crying for the boy, and ends up with a crook in his tail, from using his tail to lead the boy back home, all characteristics of a good Siamese cat.
For the life of me, I can't remember the name of the book and after countless searches, haven't been able to find it. I was hoping someone here might recognize the story.
