There's a book coming out in April that I'm looking forward to. Two years ago
this April, more than a dozen members of the Gustaf Adolph Lutheran church
in New Sweden, Maine were poisoned after drinking coffee laced with arsenic.
One of the parishioners died, the others spent weeks in the hospital. Several days after the incident, one of the remaining church members shoots himself, and leaves a suicide note claiming responsibility. But many people, including the Maine State Police, suspect the real killer is the guy's sister, Norma, who still attends the same church. Talk about some nasty church politics! Anyway,
this case got my attention from the start. It was all over the TV for awhile,
and then I didn't hear much more about it. I'm happy to hear that someone
local has written a book about it. It's due out in April, called "A Bitter Brew".
Faith, Poison, and Passion in a small Maine Community. Amazon has it listed,
(the cover, at least, looks good, but you know what they say....)
