Isak Dinesen: Out Of Africa

Enjoying this one, a slow paced read, as I find most memoirs to be. I am occasionally put off by a very un-PC imperialist sentiment, but for the most part I am charmed by her genuine love of the place.

But had to share the best euphemism ever:

"He seemed to have a gift for bringing himself into trouble, and also to differ, in his tastes and ideas of the pleasures of life, from the customary."

The mind reels with the possibilities of what his "tastes and ideas" ran to.

I only watched thefilm. haven't read the book. Africa was beautiful in the movie. I was wondering what made Africa so mystery though.

I have to say....

I actually enjoyed the movie more than the book! It seemed kind of slow to me.... I usually enjoy the book so much more, but the movie really got me on this one!
