As an aside, Ashes & Fire is a great song.
Update: Ryan Adams has announced the Sept. 9 arrival of his new LP, so it looks like we won’t have to ache for more much longer. Self-produced by Adams at his Pax Am studios, the self-titled LP will mark his 14th solo album. It will also be the first to be released on the combined Pax-Am/Blue Note imprint.
And while the new album came with quite the wait, it seems like it was well worth it. Adams’ single “Gimme Something Good” has already made a splash, becoming the first 7” single to hit #1 at the Amazon.com music store. The new album is available for pre-order on iTunes and Amazon and you can check out the track listing and Adams’ upcoming tour dates below.
Original Text: Earlier this month, Ryan Adams quietly announced his new 7”, Gimme Something Good. And now that the highly anticipated single has been released, we can definitely say that he has done just that.
While Adams’ last LP Ashes & Fire was stunning, it was a more serious turn for the rocker’s music. “Gimme Something Good” brings back the raw intensity of his early work. With earnest lyrics and its slow-burning, anthemic chorus, it’s a balance of Adams’ songwriting that we’re looking forward to seeing more of.
The single marks Adams’ first release in two years, hopefully hinting that a new LP is not far off. “Gimme Something Good” is backed by 7” exclusive “I Just Might” and “Aching For More,” which is exactly what he has left us doing.
The 7” is available for order now and you can stream “Gimme Something Good” via Spotify below.
