Judging a book by its Cover

What is your favorite book cover ever? Where you disappointed with the read? I picked up the Witch of Colgne by Tobsha because of the beutiful cover (I admit it). Have you done that? Please confess.

Of course i have! Actually, i do a lot.... i confess. It has become a habit. If the cover is soooo weird than i wont get the book. Later someone tells me i have to read it, and it do and it becomes my best friend.

Yes, I just finished the same book :)

yes i do that allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the time unfortunatly since it's a bad habit i do get some good books though

I don't necessarily do that but I couldn't say they never get my attention. If the plot sounds promising I'm all for it. Why not ?
But I have to say an ugly cover never kept me from buying a book.

The few times I bought a book because of it's cover I was disappointed. The only book that bought because of the cover and really enjoyed was the trade paperback copy of Ender's Game I bought when I was around 14 or 15 years old.

Save some l's for the rest of us. You think they grow on trees?

yes

When I was young(er) and dating, I always judged a girl by her Hottieness. It's the shallow side of me. Of course, pursuing only hottie girls can lead to many lonely Friday nights, but when you do land one, it's all worth it!

For books, I never judge them by their cover. Never.

It was the pretty, Fauvist-style cover art that first got me to notice Maeve Binchy. (I'm impervious to the Oprah influence.) Now I'm a big fan.

But my all-time favorite book cover is a kitschy porn novel entitled Nympho Librarian, because I'm a...librarian. The book itself is unreadable.

I collect pulp novels from the 1950s for their covers, especially if they have a bondage theme. Here is one of the few that can be shown here:

Again, most of them are unreadable, but they make a fun display.

what does it say about us?

hard to say which one was the best ever but...

I liked the cover to Neal Stephenson's Quicksilver. I enjoyed the book as well. Long, detailed, interesting.

i never judge a book by its cover,i wouldent have read the book 'star dancer' if not for its cover but i didnt judge it by that,i just wouldent have noticed the book if the cover hadnt been so similar to the covers of 'the chronicles of ancient darkness' which i enjoyed...

so i dont judge a book by its cover.....

I don't reckon I've bought a book just because of it's cover...but neat/pretty/weird/etc. covers do catch my attention! Here are some of my favorite covers to the books I have recently read:

I actually judge almsot every book i read by its cover. If it doesn't have an interesting cover I most likely wont pick it up unless people have recomended it to me dozens of times and I have gotten a LOT of good reads by judging a book by it's cover. That is actually why I read the pellinor books and the chanters of termaris trilogy.:D
