looking for a book - help!

I was recently told about a book that was written by a guy for his kids. He was shocked at their lack of knowledge of British history and so wrote a short book containing all the key dates, quotes and links to other key dates in international history alongside the British stuff.
Apparently, he started out sticking bits of paper to the wall in the toilet and developed the idea from there.
It's a fairly thin book but I have no idea of the title or the author and really want to find out!
Does anyone know what I'm talking about???
