looking for an old SAS fiction book, can you help ?

The book was about an SAS team that was recruited to go into the middle east and rescue some hostages.

They were led by an officer called the 'Hawk'.

If anyone knows the name or author, or even suggest some likely authors it would be really appreeciated?
 
The only possibility I can find is Tom Clancy's 'Rainbow Six'. Hope that maybe helps to place you on the right track to finding what you're looking for.
