Many years ago I read a novel set in either London or Oxford, I think. The characters interacted with some timeshifted doomed aristocrats from revolutionary France. There was also a character called Smoaker. I had thought it was a novel by DL Murray, but now I'm not so sure. Does it ring any bells with anyone?
