Hi all,
Joined ages ago but work, dogs and recalcitrant husbands have kept me off the site. So really I feel like a newcomer.
Am over retirement age but cant give up work. Did retire for a year but hated it!
Lovely to have some days off now to settle down and revisit old friends like J Scott Fitzgerald, Thomas Hardy, even Rosamunde Pilcher.
Looking forward to having a look at Richard and Judys book list. Really liked last years selection.
When I was in Washington on business four years ago, there was an advertisement in the personal columns of the Washington Post from an widowed lady who said that she was 63, widowed, in need of TLC from any lovely gentleman who shared her love for Joanna Trollope. I think she had 584 replies! Amazing!
So there is hope out there for any lonely ladies. Mind you, I dont much like Joanna Trollope! And my husband certainly wouldnt encourage me to be putting advertisements in American newspapers!!
Happy New Year to you all
