If your a fan of epic fantasy, and haven't been able to find anything worth your time reading, painfully trying to find something enjoyable other then Martin or Erikson then let me recommend R. Scott Bakker's 'Prince of Nothing', which along with the 2 aforementioned writers is the best epic series currently being written IMHO.
If you have thought about trying it out and was waiting for more info, check out the interview as I ask Scott some questions that may make the choice easier. So far he has written The Darkness That Comes Before and The Warrior-Prophet, and he is currently writing the heavily anticipated The Thousandfold Thought.
