New Sci-Fi

I read a lot of fantasy and not much sci-fi, but recently I read a Sci-Fi book worth mentioning. It is called; "House of the Scorpion" by Nancy Farmer.

The characters are really well developed, very real and human. The story is imaginative and engaging. I loved it.

Has anyone else read this? It may be aimed at young adults/teenagers...

Now I'm on to a new sci-fi book by
James White. It's called; "The Galactic Gourmet." It's part of a series called "Sector General" whose first installment was published in 1962. As I said, I don't read much sci-fi so two in quick succession is almost unheard of for me.

Oddly, I got the book at the family dollar store... for $1! I am suprised to find that it is a very enjoyable read. I guess you never know where you're going to find a great book.

So, is anyone here a fan of this series or this Author? I'm guessing no one's read "House of the Scorpion."
