Philippa Gregory: The Virgin Lover

Because there has been so much talk about Philippa Gregory on TBF lately (cf. Philippa Gregory and The Other Boleyn Girl) and because I do like historical fiction, I thought I should maybe give The Virgin's Lover a try. It was a fairly quick read and the subject matter did intrigue me, but I cannot say I was impressed with the novel.

So I decided to read through the threads again to see if maybe I wasn't alone in this. Apparently I picked the wrong Gregory novel?

I've read almost all her novels and I have to say that while I was reading them I wasn't able to put them down (except for The Virgins Lover). (source)

as for The Virgins Lover which comes after TQF I didn't find it to be as great as most people think but if you decide to read it you might think differently. (source)
