I was hoping someone here could help me find a book;
I read a book a while ago (about 12 months now), and unfortunately I do not remember names very well so cannot name the characters.
The general story arc involved scientist on a space station, investigating strange signals from an asteroid. They find an alien space craft which shares a wealth of knowledge via a psychic bond to it's "pilot".
If I remember correctly, this craft can travel faster then light - which is used to travel back to earth when it falls under attack by the alien craft's enemies.
I think there is some story where they also manufacture more of the same craft using resources from mars?
This is all I can remember for now. ANY help would be great! I read the first book in a series but never got
