I am currently reading The Loch by Steve Alten, a novel about (you guessed it) The Loch Ness Monster. It also contains quite a bit of Scottish history, including some William Wallace lore. I've read almost all of Steve's books, I liked the Meg books (giant, prehistoric sharks on a feeding frenzy). I've also read Domain, a science fiction thriller which was pretty good, but I didn't care for the sequel, Resurrection. Steve has a website stevealten.com and is a very friendly guy who corresponds with his fans.
