The Man Booker Prize 2002 Shortlist Announced

The Man Book Prize 2002 shortlist has been announced today.

The six shortlisted books competing for the £50,000 first prize (a £30,000 increase on last year), are:-

  • Yann Martel - Life of Pi
  • Rohinton Mistry - Family Matters
  • Carol Shields - Unless
  • William Trevor - The Story of Lucy Gault
  • Sarah Waters - Fingersmith
  • Tim Winton - Dirt Music
The judges for the Man Booker Prize 2002 are: Professor Lisa Jardine (Chair), writer, critic and broadcaster; David Baddiel, writer and comedian; Russell Celyn Jones, novelist and short story writer; Salley Vickers, novelist and analytical psychologist; and Erica Wagner, Literary Editor of The Times.

The winner will be announced on Tuesday, 22 October 2002.
